The National Organic Standards Board is planning to recommend the organic label be restricted to plants grown in soil. No seaweed. No spirulina. No hydroponics. No aquaponics. But before they can do that, they have to hold an open comment period. And it closes at midnight, October 26, 2016.
Make your voice heard!
We have submitted a letter to the NOSB on behalf of the Aquaponic and Hydroponic Organic Coalition.
PLEASE SUBMIT AN INDIVIDUAL COPY
To submit your own copy:
1) Go to: https://www.regulations.gov/document?D=AMS-NOP-16-0049-0001 and click "comment"
2) Open the attached word doc with a shorter version of the letter, and copy and paste it into the comment box. Fill out the info and click "submit". (The NOSB comment box has a character maximum and the word doc has been crafted to fit that limit).
The next step is that the Aquaponic and Hydroponic Organic Coalition will present an oral comment at the November 16-18 NOSB meeting in St Louis. We'll keep you posted!
