Tribute to Spencer Curry
The Aquaponics Association is deeply saddened by the recent passing of former Board Member and long-time friend, Spencer Curry. He is a visionary “aqua-pioneer” and a good friend.
Spencer is the founder of Fresh Farm Aquaponics, later named Trifecta Ecosystems, in Connecticut.
Spencer played a critical role in the formative years of The Aquaponics Association. He was one of the Association’s earliest Members in 2012, when he was only 23-years-old and the Association was still in its first years. From 2015 - 2018, Spencer served on the Board of The Aquaponics Association, including as Vice Chair. He played a major role in planning and executing several of the Association’s Annual Conferences.
In 2018, Spencer and his team welcomed the global aquaponics community to Hartford, CT for the Annual Conference. Spencer is an amazing host. His warm smile and generosity made everyone feel welcome. His team led a fascinating tour of their large aquaponic farm in an old, unused warehouse.
Regarding the Conference, Spencer wrote: “Being able to showcase our creation to all of the people who have influenced, advised, and mentored us for the past six years will remain among the proudest moments of my life.”
In 2017, Spencer played a critical role in the transition from a previous Association Board to a new Board. The Association underwent a complete Board change and he was the key link that ensured all processes and functions transferred to the new Board.
No matter how busy he was, Spencer always donated his time to needed tasks to ensure the Association kept on track financially, legally, and with Membership. The Aquaponics Association is deeply indebted to Spencer’s service.

The Aquaponics Association sends its condolences to Spencer’s friends and family, and we will keep Spencer in our hearts.
